The Four Best Solutions for Slippery Garage Floors

Garage Floor Slippery

A slippery garage floor can quickly turn from a minor inconvenience to a serious accident. In the case of industrial garages with a lot of tools, someone can easily slip and knock over materials or injure themselves. The good news is that there are many ways to repair these slippery floors, even if they are in garages. Depending on your budget, timeline, and preferences, you can implement a quick fix that will work for a short amount of time or a more time-consuming option that will keep the garage slip-free for a much longer amount of time.

Quick Solutions with Mats

Perhaps the easiest and most obvious solution to repairing slippery garage floors is to put down a mat or series of mats. Select commercial or carpet entryway mats and place them strategically over the slippery areas in the garage. You can hold the mats in place using industrial double-sided tape that is designed specifically for carpets. Another related option is to purchase synthetic tile mats that snap together and drain liquid.

Non-Skid Tape as a Quick Fix

If the client prefers not to add bulky mats to a garage, then try some non-skid tape. Simply apply small strips of the tape in the areas of the floor that need it. You’ll notice that there are several coarseness options available and the tape will resist moisture. This solution only lasts until the tape begins to peel, and it can look tacky depending on how it is done.

Use an Epoxy Sealant

One of the best ways to repair a slippery garage floor is by adding an epoxy sealant on top of the flooring. When using this method, be sure to follow the directions carefully, as mistakes can lead to a surface that is still slippery. You may want to add a non-slip additive (see below)

Apply an Anti-Slip Coating

In addition to epoxy sealant, there are other types of anti-slip coatings that you can add to the floor, including those that are epoxy based. You can create a non slip epoxy by including anti-skid additives to reduce the probability of slipping even more. When you opt for an epoxy sealant or coating, you will get a durable surface that keeps people safe. There are multiple epoxy-coated textures you can choose from, allowing your clients to customize their flooring surface.
